Public Review and Comment

There will be a number of opportunities for public review and
comment of the various stages of the Linking Lands project.
The first set of public events occurred in November 2009 at
open house events held around the region.  The maps and
information shared at the open houses are available on this
website
here.

The conservation (green infrastructure) network will be posted
to the website in late April 2010.

The Leadership Group (Project Advisory Committee) meets
monthly on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from 2p.m.-4p.m.
These meetings are open to the public. Contact
Linda Giltz if
you would like to see Agendas or get more details about the
meetings.

The project maps and tools will be available for viewing and use
at the end of June.

Fall 2009 Open House Events A Success!

The purpose of the November 2009 Linking Lands and
Communities Open House events was to provide an opportunity
for practitioners and members of the regional community to
learn about the Linking Lands and Communities Project and to
provide input on the ecological assessment maps that describe
lands in the region’s that are valued for their:

  •   contribution to water quality to local communities;
  •   ability to provide wildlife habitat, biodiversity, and maintain
    ecological functions
  •   use as agricultural lands (farming and forestry)
  •   use as recreational lands

The open houses also served to recruit community members
and leaders to take an active role in the subsequent phases of
the projects.
